"I refer to these pieces as Sculptural Paintings. They are "paintings" in the application of color, surface treatments and that they hang on a wall - yet, they're designed to "float" off of that wall as more of an object with depth, texture and shadows. I work in this way when I want to explore an idea over a period of time. It can be a detailed process of living with the artwork for a while as it's taking shape."
